Learn how to create a new group on the Newman app.
There are two types of users who can create a group: Administrator and Group Leader. While the Administrator has control over all groups in the ministry, the Group Leader only has the ability to control what is in a group they have created.
It is best practice to create a group for anything happening in your center where more than 2 or 3 people need to communicate regularly.
Group examples include:
Leadership Team
Men's Group
Women's Group
Newman Freshman
Focus Group
Knights of Columbus Group
When creating a group you have a few options to select from:
- group photo
- group name
- group gender (if needed)
- Public or private (invitation only)
- Start Date and end date (ex: book study, retreat team, welcoming committee, etc.)
- Go live date (when others will be able to see your group)
- Group capacity (ex: book study limited to 10 people)
- Welcome message (what students will see if they are interested in the group)
Once these fields are complete, the Create button will light up and you will be able to save the group. If you choose to publish the group immediately, it will show up in the group's tab upon creation.
Tip: Private groups can function as subgroups. Here's an example: You can create a group that includes all members of a women's ministry. You may have subgroups within the women's ministry for bible studies or small groups. Create private groups for each of these small groups where you can communicate events and chat with just those members.
